There are so many choices – where does one begin? This class discusses how much RAM you will require, which kind of drive suits your needs, whether to buy on-line or in-person, and if a warranty is worth the expense. There will be demonstrations on how to best use websites from companies like Amazon, and looking up the CPU’s ratings (the chip’s rating – the most important component.) We will also be examining the tricks both manufacturers and retailers use to confuse the consumer. This class is step one in understanding your choices

Pictures – How to Take, Store, & Text Them

Your smartphone includes a camera, which may make it the second-best reason for having a smartphone. This course will focus on the camera and pictures. It will cover how to take pictures, where they are typically stored, and how to share them with a friend as an attachment to a text (or email.) Sharing pictures using the Texting App has become a preferred form of electronic communications. Moving your pictures to a Microsoft computer, so they will be safe, will also be covered. The Android Operating System is used in examples but similar results can be accomplished using the Apple iOS. A basic knowledge of your device is expected.

The big technology show in Las Vegas is Jan 6-9 in 2026, and that is when the stores start discounting their 2025 models in order to fill their shelves with the latest and the greatest! January is a good time to look for a new computer. Now all you need to do is to figure out what to look for.
This class talks about how much RAM you may need, how to tell if the computer you are looking at has a good chip using the Passmark website, and what kind of drive fits your needs. There is also a discussion about where to buy your next computer. Join us and learn the tricks of the trade.

iPad/iPhone for Seniors

The iPad and the iPhone function the same in most cases. Their portability makes them very handy. You can not only check your email and carry your books and music around with you, you can also adjust the size of the text on your screen. We will review iPad or iPhone settings and will include Bluetooth, Siri, dictation, books on the iPad and more.
PREREQUISITE: You need to bring your fully charged iPad or iPhone to class along with the charger and USB power cord. It is presumed that your device is already set up for use and you know both your icloud user name and your passcode.

This class is designed for those new to computers. We’ll answer essential questions like:
• How do I use a computer?
• Where do I start?
• How can I find more help?
We’ll begin with a hands-on activity to help you customize your desktop. You’ll also learn how to send emails and browse the internet with confidence. Through interactive exercises and real-world examples, you’ll develop fundamental computer skills.
Additionally, we’ll cover the basics of computer organization, including:
• Understanding file paths, extensions, and storage
• Finding and managing photos and files
• Creating and organizing folders and subfolders
• Moving and copying files for better accessibility
By the end of this class, you’ll have the foundational knowledge and confidence to navigate and use a computer efficiently.
